Starting 1 October 2024, only glass bottles and jars should be placed in your black box for recycling.

Small electrical items (WEEE) and textiles will no longer be accepted in the black box. If you include these items, the glass will still be collected, but the WEEE/textiles will be left behind with a contamination sticker explaining why.

Where to recycle textiles and small electrical items:

• Textiles: Take them to local recycling points, Household Waste Recycling Centres, or consider donating if in good condition.
• Small WEEE: Use the national electrical take-back scheme at retailers when purchasing new items or bring them to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Black Box Collection service updates:

• The black box will still be collected every two weeks. Check your updated collection calendar from 2 October 2024, as some collection days may change.
• If your collection day changes, most first collections in October will be scheduled earlier than usual.
• From 1 October, separate vehicles will collect your black box, food caddy, and AHP sacks (if applicable). Different vehicles may arrive for each, so do not report a missed collection until all collections have taken place.
